MAGIC POUCH - Mmom/dad/greandparents are also welcome with kids
Young people will love wrapping beautifully dyed sheep wool around a special smooth
rock with their hands. They will use warm water, a little soap and some gentle rubbing to
felt around it. They will then cut a slit into the felt, remove the stone, and turn the pouch
around to reveal the magical colors hidden inside. A twizzled cord will become the strap.
This lovely pouch will be destined to carry many little treasures.

25€ per child

Join us for some felting fun! Create this versatile and ancient wool fabric with just water,
soap and the magic of your hands (+ a couple of helpful tools). To get familiar with the
medium, we will start with a simple ball/rattle/pin cushion, a soap scrubby and a key
chain. Next, we will create a flat piece of felt which can be made into a pillow cover/hot
pad/coaster. On the second day we will work on a bag to hold all your other treasures.
During these two days you will learn about different types of wool, felting traditions, all
basic felting and decorating processes, how to make a pattern for 3-dimensional pieces,
trouble shooting and finishing techniques.

i am originally from vienna, austria, but moved to the US for my university degrees and got stuck there :) i first came across natural dyes in college 25 years ago. my wonderful teacher barbara setsu pickett taught me the basics and encouraged me to take part in a workshop by michele wipplinger on natural dye extracts...the rest is history...i've been steeping in madder, indigo, weld & co ever since! i ended up working with michele during my time in seattle and took many more classes with other known natural dye specialists over the course of half a lifetime. i owned a design, natural dye & felt business "VERMILIO" for 12 years selling at places like MOMA, San Francisco, The Mother Goose, Portland, KOBO, Seattle, or the BAM ARTSfair, Bellevue and ran a little cute store in vienna with my mom for some time. i conducted natural dye workshops on 4 continents & volunteered a bunch in se asia - my dream home! i recently moved back to vienna and am eager to spread my love for & knowledge of natural dyes here in europe!
